Scholarships for students at the 2026 New Zealand Skeptics Conference, Christchurch

This year the NZ Skeptics will be offering 20 full scholarships to attend the 2026 New Zealand Skeptics Conference in Christchurch. The scholarships cover the full cost of conference admission for one person each (but no travel, accommodation, or meals outside of the conference event). Scholarships are available to students enrolled in any secondary or tertiary educational institution in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Funding for the scholarships is provided by a foundation I set up recently for the promotion of critical thinking skills among young people, the Traynor Foundation (leetraynor.org) - based in Launceston, Tasmania.
Students who have already bought tickets for the conference can apply for a scholarship, and, if successful, will receive a refund of the amount paid. Students who are not yet 18 years or older on July 31, 2026 and would be attending the conference unaccompanied by a parent/guardian/nominated adult will be asked to provide a statement of consent to attend the conference signed by their parent or guardian.
The scholarships will be awarded by a committee of the New Zealand Skeptics, but the committee is not obliged to award any or all of the scholarships, if not enough suitable applicants can be found.
