Join us in Auckland!
- 1 February 1989
Dear NZCSICOP Member,
The first two NZCSICOP conferences enjoyed such success that they are difficult acts to follow … but our third conference may prove the most lively of all.
- Have you wondered if advertisers really can use “subliminal” messages to reduce you to a product-consuming automaton?
- How is it possible to convince apparently normal, rational that people you can talk to their dead relatives?
- Why is belief in the occult and paranormal so widespread today?
- Does holistic medicine offer the brave new face of science—or just trendy quackery?
- What role does the media play in promoting pseudoscience and paranormal bunkum?
- Why are so many more women than men victimised by some paranormal scams?
These and other timely topics will be covered by an outstanding line-up of engaging speakers, including our founding chairman, David Marks, who will be in New Zealand on his first visit since he accepted a professorial appointment in England. The meeting, at the University of Auckland, will take place all day on Saturday (August 20), and Sunday (August 21) till 1.00 PM. Plan to attend our annual Saturday evening dinner, where we are delighted to have as our featured speaker television’s most literate and civilised host, Gordon McLauchlan.
Bernard Howard and Barry Kirkwood have worked hard to ensure a comfortable yet reasonably priced venue for the ‘meeting, so… bring your spouse, bring a friend, and join us in Auckland for our best meeting yet!
